Chamfer Issues - Works at .25mm only

Hello,

I am designing a sign. I want to put a transparent cover over the lights that will intersect the middle of the letter.

In the middle of each letter, I need to create a space for the transparent cover to slide into. I have to chamfer this area so I do not have to print supports for such a big part. It will add extra time and waste extra plastic. When I attempt to add the chamfer it will only work up to .25mm. I need it to at least be 1mm.

Anyone have any ideas as to how I should go about this? Some of the other letters will chamfer without any issues.

**I added the file. The letter 'L' has the chamfer already. It is what I want to do with all the letters. Please see images

Your model edges are just too sharp to support a larger chamfer. In my Screencast, I used a simple example to explain how the chamfer will fail when it get so large it starts to touch itself. If you must have the chamfer, you either have to widen the distance between the edges.

Thank you very much! I ended up reworking my project to not need the chamfers.
