Hey guys,

somehow my design ended up with a component with one body, whilst that single body should have been multiple bodies.
I’m now trying to split the body using surfaces I created, but I get an error notification “no intersection between target and split tool”. It’s quite obvious that the split tools (the surfaces) cut through the body.
it doesn’t matter if I select all split tools or do it one tool at the time.

see image: the protruding steps are the split tools.

Please attach your model so the forum users can troubleshoot your issue. If you do not know how to attach your model, open it in Fusion360, select the File menu and then choose Export and save the .F3D file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section of a reply forum post to attach it.

I managed to cut off some parts from the entire body. I'm now left with a box like construction, for which the bodies won't split using the tools I have.

I think I can work around it by cutting one slice with extended tool option on, and then reconnect the unwanted splits, butr that's not ideal, To me it looks like a product defect.

I used construction planes to cut the box into bodies. I agreed this is not ideal since you cannot restrict the scope of the cutting surface which forces you to use the combine tool to repair any splits you do not desire but it works. Normally you could use surfaces, as you have, to do this but something is preventing it in your model. I hope someone else can explain it. It could very well be a flaw in the application. Your model is attached with a different name.

I think I know why the body will not split using a surface plane. They were created from a Form tool and converted into a Brep body from a T-Spline. I am not up on using the Form tool for modeling but this is what is causing the split body issue.
