Hello,

I'm posting here to hopefully get some tips from the pros on better understanding AutoCAD and how I can bring my ideas to life in this program.

With the virus I have found myself with a lot of extra down time so I'm catching up on my honey-do list and other projects that have been on the back burner. My current one is designing a door system for my trailer as I have bent and damaged it over the years. I would like to create the 2 way opening style I see online by fabricating some HSS into a new door.

My issue is with understanding how to separate ridged groupings so that I can test clearances on the opening and closing of the 3 possible doors. I have attached 2 photos from my cad file as well as the source idea image. I currently have the main frame able to move around a hinge point but when I try and move the second door nothing happens, it might have to due with the fact I used the move copy command to create the smaller doors hinges, but that is also how I completed the main dump door as well...

I hope that someone reading this can assist with my issue, if I can answer anything more or provide better pictures please let me know.

Thank you for the replies, Yes it is an error using Autocad not Fusion as the product. A moderator had moved my posting to here after noticing that blunder last night.

Thank you for showing how to export as well, was looking in the fusion360 file folder for the files.

The goal is to have the main frame with door closed swing open open while dumping and if I wanted only open the 2 doors to load or unload while flat. I have attached a photo that shows both doors doing what I want.

Thank you both for trying to teach me to tackle this.

I've created a video for you.

You will notice that I did not model any hinges. But what I did do, was place Joint Origins on Sketch Points, such that I can change the Sketch Dimensions to those points, and my pivot points will move. This might be useful for your testing. I would come back and model the hinges after I was satisfied with the pivot point locations. In fact, when modeling the hinges, I would project in the appropriate pivot point, and whatever line would work as a mounting point, and start sketching the hinge geometry between those projected references, so that if I updated the pivot point locations, the hinges would adapt accordingly.

Manually flexing Joints can be annoying if there are rotational axes at odds with each other relative to your viewpoint, because Fusion doesn't seem to know which Joint you're trying to flex, so you don't always get what you want. You'll see this behavior in my video. But you can temporarily Ground the Component you are NOT trying to flex for the moment, just to make things easier while you're working.

Here is the video:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/learn-explore/caas/screencast/Main/Details/1a8e1e68-30a2-405e-a39a-7d080d4810d1.html

You Sir are a gentleman and a scholar, I truly appreciate the time you put into that educational clip for me.

I did notice the issues with manually moving the parts and how they wouldn't respond all the time, I was using the flag to move the pieces though, maybe that's something I should avoid.

I'm going to watch the video a few more times and follow your steps so I can recreate this in any future projects.

Thank you again for this great help.
