I have been trying to figure out how to create a simple part but difficult to describe.
The goal is to convert a shaft’s rotation to a linear motion in the axial direction. I have created parts semi-manually, but I need to create a proper CAD model.
The shaft is a tube, 20mm long, 10mm OD and 6mm ID. That leaves a 2mm rim.
Resting against that rim is a cam follower using a very tiny ball bearing. The cam follower will move axially depending on the axial shape of that 2mm rim when the shaft rotates one turn.
The desired movement is sinusoidal +/-1.25mm for a total of 0-2.5mm moment.
How do I create that cam shape at the end of the tube?
Bertho

Hi,

Without an insight into the design, it is not possible to give advice.

please share the f3d file

Here's a four lobe face cam done with a loft.

Thanks!! There are apparently many ways, and I am learning.

Unfortunately, this is close but no cigar. It is critical that the ball bearing cam follower rests on horizontal surface and that is true at the peaks but not in the valleys.

See the picture.

Thanks again.
