Interesting. While they appear to be emerging from it, Ericcson filed for bankruptcy (Chapter 11) a while back so I would think that's not too wise of an approach 😉

While I would also like to see that implemented, I can see that this is a very difficult one to implement.

Hi,

I copied a component A into new components A1 and A2. If I make changes to A they are reflected also in A1 & A2. If I make changes to A1 they are also reflected in A & A2. How can I separate A1 from this binding, so I can make ONLY changes in A1!

Thx

Eitan

You cannot unlink it after the fact. What you can do is to do Paste New instead of Paste - this creates an independent copy of the component.

I am having the same issue with being unable to unlink a previous pasted component. AutoDesk needs to add a feature to unlink copied components or allowing edits of the copy action that would provide the option of modifying the Paste operation to Paste-New. It's really a pain being 50 edits out on the timeline only to realize that you should've have Paste-New 50 edits back. This functionality has been asked for many times since 2015. Does AutoDesk only add feature and functions that they think should be in the product or do they also take user suggestions and feature requests into consideration for production updates?

AutoDesk should do be like Ericsson, they accept customer feature requests worldwide, and at least once per year they have a round of customer voting on feature requests. The top 10 customers features requests are then added into their product roadmap.

I've also had this same issue. Actually, the solution is quite easy, and is hinted at above.

If you're in this situation, you don't need to go back in your timeline at all. All you need to do is Copy the component in question (menu Copy rather than Move/Copy) in its current state, Paste As New (it pastes in the same location as the original) and hide or remove the original. You then have an independent copy!

Simples!

That is not a simple solution. This is a failure of U.I. period. I made an array of components and now need to create voids in this array. There is no "paste new" option when making an array of 50 components. This software is amateur hour. They should not market it as a professional product. To the person above who insists that CAD software isn't a consumer product, Then I guess it's free right??? right???
