Parametric Profile Selection When Extruding?

Hi everyone,

I use Fusion 360 to build cabinets and bookshelves and it's been perfect for the jobs I've done. My models are all parametric and are working wonderfully, but I haven't been able to figure out shelf support holes.

I have the rectangular pattern parametrically modeled to give me the right number of shelf pin holes for the sides of the cabinets, but I can't figure out how to parametrically extrude those holes when the height of the cabinet changes. The number of holes is tied to the height, and it would be awesome if it's possible to have the holes automatically extruded when the height changes.

Is this possible or will this be a manual task for each cabinet? Not a big deal if it is, but I'd love to completely automate the model.

File > export > save as f3d on local device > attach it to the next post.

at the moment, this will continue to be a manual (frustrating) workflow. There is no way to tell Fusion "extrude all the profiles in this sketch", or "extrude all the profiles from this pattern". It would be a nice enhancement, I agree...

As far as frustrations are concerned, this is pretty minor! Everything else works very well so I can handle manually extruding profiles. I'm glad to know I wasn't overlooking something simple!

I realized I answered the specific question you asked, and that there is another answer: Instead of using sketches for the holes, if you use the actual Hole feature for the holes, you can create a feature pattern that will update correctly with changes...

Oh I hadn't thought about that...I'll have to mess around with that and see how I get on. I don't mind manually extruding either, but if I can make the hole features work the way I need them that would be awesome.

Maybe you can create a new component, extrude the Profile of the pin holes to create a new body inside that component. Then create the pattern with the newly created body of the pin hole profile and subtract the body that you want to have pin holes from the new component, which contains the bodies with the "negative" pin holes.

Make one hole with the Hole command.

Pattern those as required, the pattern can be driven from the height / width parameter.

Cant see a reason the make / combine / remove additional articles - lots more work.
