Hi all,

I'd like to be able to engrave distance markings at 1cm intervals on an organic surface. However, the organic surface is a BREP created from a complex t-spline, and therefore has many faces representing the surface. I tried to use the "project to surface" command, but it doesn't seem to work with more than one surface selected at a time.

Is there a better way to achieve a consistent depth line marking on this surface for engraving?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Lee

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried to upload, but the .f3d file is 70mb and isn't accepted by the forum.

If I extrude as surfaces and intersect, is there any way to limit the depth of the intersection to a consistent depth, say, 0.020" from the surface? Otherwise it seems it would result in a variable depth engraving.

Thanks again!

Lee

Hi,

Hoping someone can help with this. I thought about creating a second copy of the model and shrinking it by a small amount, then using the projected sketch to cut only the original body. That would leave the smaller body as the base of the cut. But, this seems like a very processor intensive way of doing it - it's already quite a complex model, and I suspect if I duplicate it my computer will balk...
