I want to extrude a portion of my design

Good afternoon. From my file you can see that I extruded the component and Fusion automatically extruded it all the way thru and made it hollow. I would like only the bottom piece soI can clip in the other component.

How can I do a partial extrude? Iv'e tried to create a split and that did not work for me. I'm hoping someone here has the simple answer.

Your description isn't complete enough to understand which extrusion needs to change. Take a screenshot and draw on it what you need to do. If you're using Windows, Paint will work.

Thanks for your reply.

I want to extrude/hollow out only the part of my part I have circled. I would like the rest of the part to remain a solid part.

This way I can clip another piece to this part to obtain my desired length. In fact I would like to clip several pieces together in my final design.

Does this help you understand what I would like to do better?

I am kinda new to CAD design. I think my sketches are defined. I think I do not have any issues. Please let me try to explain this in a different way.

I have several long thin pieces I want to 3D print then attach together in a very neat and professional way. I cannot print one-piece because it is too long.

How can I do this?

Blue lines indicate underdefined geometry.

You should not be able to click and drag it anywhere.

There should be red Lock symbols in the browser when geometry is fully defined.

Shell feature is clearly shown in your Timeline and results in thin wall "hollowing" of the geometry.

Do you really want to learn professional techniques?

If yes, I can walk you through this step-by-step (will require starting over, just because...).

First I would choose a logical datum for the geometry and connect it to the Origin Center Point.

Point 1 OR 2 might make a logical datum.

Let's choose Point 1.

Note that the line with endpoint designated as Point 1 is not connected to the Origin.

Note that the line with endpoint designated as Point 1 is blue rather than black (underconstrained).

Note that the line with endpoint designated as Point 1 does not have a length dimension.

The first thing a pro does is choose a logical datum and place it at the Origin.

So I am trying to constrain my sketch and I don't know how. I have parts of it turning black But the rest will not. How do I do this?

You should not have any dimensions in your sketch that you do not see in my sketch.

I recommend that you start a new file and start over from scratch.

Let's keep it simple to start.

Sketch ONLY these lines.
