It is a rather intensive process so if you have to do it on a lot of taper components it could be a drag. Follow the Screencast process. I want to emphasis the deleting of the Contact Set at the end. It you do not, they will drag down Fusion 360 performance.

Hi

I want to do a simple taper joint of a countersunk screw, see picture (taper joint 1).

I know I can make a joint between existing joint origins (see picture taper joint 2) and then tweak Z offset. But:

- this is cumbersome

- requires hard to do measuring (z component and not shortest distance between taper surfaces needed). I need it to be a real zero distance joint.

- And I need a solution that has the two taper surfaces effectively coincide, so that this will still be the case when I change maximum diameter of drilled taper (for instance to have the screw

How can I do this more directly and have the srew move in- or outwards automatically when changing drilled taper diameter, as that would be in real life? Means: without re-tweaking Z offset.

You do it with sketches in the components. Joint origins on the same sized line contained in the 2 components.

Might help....

Hi John, thanks

Effectively, it's quite a laborious process. But it does what I asked for 🙂

If there was a "copy with joints" function as for instance PTC's Creo has, then it could be good if you have lots of bolts of the same type. And of course it'll help me for other conical joints than screwed ones.

Thanks

Mani

Hi, and thanks

I was thinking of that, too, but had to leave it as I quite often use many different bolts from different sources with different drives (torx, allen, and so on). To make those sketches all the time again is even more time-consuming than what John posted after you.

But, again, thanks anyway

Mani
