I have an assembly that has two cylindrical components. Both of these components has a set of holes that are 180 degrees from each other and are the same size and distance apart. I'm trying to join the component so that both holes in one cylinder line up with another so that I could pass a bolt through them.

I'm transitioning from solidworks where I could simply make the holes on one component concentric to the other and then set the faces as coincident and it'd work.

What I'm strugging with in fusion is that when I join the holes on component one to component two, the opposite holes aren't lining up. This is because the component is wanting to pivot around the axis of the joined hole, making it so they don't line up (it's a rigid joint). I understand that I could adjust the position the component a few degrees one direction or the other to try to get them to line up, but it's not exact as it's going to be something like 2.475695 degrees pivoted. I'm using this as a fixture for a CNC so the parts needs to align perfectly. I can't do a joint on both holes as it throws and error that they will be in conflict.

I've tried to align the parts at first and then do a joint, but once the joint is set the part shifts slightly and the holes in the components are no longer concentric.

What am I doing incorretly? Fusion seems to be great, but there are a few simple things that seem to be much harder than they should be. In the attached screenshot, I have a joint between the first set of holes and arrows pointing to the other two holes I need to get lined up.

Change your original joint to revolve.

Add 2nd joint to second hole set as rigid. (You will get a warning about 2 joints, ignore the warning)

There are other ways, but would need the file to see how it's built.

Thanks for the reply. I attempted that and it didn't seem to work. The component became rigid but didn't align itself with the selected hole.

Here are the two components I'm attempting to join. This is the grounded base https://a360.co/32deJOs and this is the fixture that needs to align with the holes in the grounded base https://a360.co/3mLAL4r The holes that need to line up are the slightly larger ones.

Thanks for helping with this, that definitely worked!

This is not a very intuitive workflow so if a Fusion 360 team member happens across this, I think this needs addressed. Using two joints that are supposed to impart motion to not impart motion is silly. I think the only thing that solidworks has over fusion is that the mates are much better and easier to use than the joints. Even though mates take a few more clicks, I'm never fighting the program to get parts to align how I expect them with mates the way I do with joints.

You are trying to use Solidworks / Inventor strategies in Fusion.

This is not a very intuitive workflow - because

Your methods need two specialty revolve Joints to do it,

Your files were not aligned as expected on import, but even so, Fusion will insert the 2nd component, for you to position without joints at all, when you think Fusion.

I'm sorry, but I'm still struggling. Until now, I always just did two revolve joints. But somehow this does no longer work in the newest version of Fusion (V.2.0.10440). Everything seems normal, and I get the known error message. But then it moves the whole component, and seems to remove the first joint. Does anyone know how to do this with the current version?

See post below for Screencast of the problem:
