Intrinsic parameters

I was wondering if it could be possible to use intrinsic parameters without creating them.

In a particular construction I want to get the length of an extrusion (for exemple) but without creating a parameter called "Lengh"

I want to keep this length dependant from other references.

I can't find any way to get this length as it is caculated intrinsecly in the extrude feature....

not sure what you are asking here, but if you want the ability to create a parameter "on the fly" while creating an extrude, try using "length=30" syntax. This creates a favorite model parameter with the name "length"

What I want is to get the length of an edge which is depending of other references...

I want to use the Rectangular pattern tool.

in the distance field I need to enter a distance... but I don't know it.

I can on the fly measure the length of the long edge by selecting "measure" and the edge. But the value is taken only at that moment...

If I modify my rectangle by draging the short edge, the value don't update...

distance is not really driven by the edge's length but is only computed on the fly.

could it be possible to save a measurement as an analysis and get this value in the parameter space?

Hi,

If I create a sketch and dimension it directly with the creation of favourite parameters, I can also access these in the rectangular pattern.

I mean if my sketch is driven by 2 components as the cube in this screenshot

the the length of the long edge is dependant of the space between the cubes...

and if the spece augment or reduce I want the sketch follows and rectangular pattern too.

this is a basic example.

yes but the result is the same,

you have created a parameter "Length_full" by numerical value, it's not the result of a referencing...

What @g-andresen is describing is referencing a driving dimension.

What @jean-michel_legoff is looking for is to reference a driven dimension. At this point that isn't possible. There is a heated thread about Fusion 360 current inability to reference driven dimensions, but I chose not to link to this here 😉

How about you don't use rectangular pattern, but create each rectangle manually.

In my sketch below, the 2 lines highlighted in blue have an equal constraint, and are driven by the other dimensions?

OK,

As I said it is a very simple case, and it is not representative of the final work, except that I shall have use a value which I can't drive but which will be always only driven by the model.

So In order to get a fully parametric model this value needs to update automatically.

But if it's not possible for now, OK, I shall continue to manage it by hand.

So I have better to ask a feature request apparently.

You can use Driven Dimensions (reference dimensions) as parameters in Autodesk Inventor Professional (for more years than I can remember, but I suspect 10+ yrs). So the folks across the hall at Autodesk are aware of the utility of this functionality.

Yes it looks like there are some cool features in Inventor that Fusion 360 didn't heritate... "yet", I hope
