Easy problem: Copy a sketch

I think I have forgotten everything I used to know about F360 which was enough to get my work done. But today I forgot: How do I copy a shetch?

Poked at the sketch in the project folder, right clicked, nope!

OPen the sketch and repeated Poked at the sketch in the project folder, right clicked, nope!

Read other posts; no help; they say the obvious: Poked at the sketch in the project folder, right click.

Suggestions?

you have to:

select the geometry in the source sketch, Copy
create a new sketch for the destination
paste the sketch geometry

Not the Browser for sketches. You can use keyboard commands or right click menu items.

With an otherwise clean screen, show the sketch to copy from.

Window select the articles to copy.

Control - C.

open edit or create second / destination sketch,

Control - V.

Use position Dialogue Box to locate the Paste items.

Put the sketch in a component, then copy the component. This gives you more options for positioning the new sketch including using joints.

Really!?!

I considered that but i dismissed it as ridiculous.

It is ridiculous! I would be embarrased to explain that to a user.

I have nearly no choice but to use that method.

I interpret your text to mean: how should it be do able.

On the list of things in the project right click on the sketch, right click, choose copy prompt for plane, complete the copy.

Simple, intuitive!

And in sketch accept ctl-a, ctlr-c and ctrl-v. Simple intuitive.

This is the responsibility of the UI designer and these omissions of obvious manipulations an error.

I may as well redraw, my drawing is small and simple and i need the exercise.

It does work like that without history. As for why it doesn't with history, my guess would be because the sketch needs a plane or surface and if you've ever used redefine sketch you'll know that's easier said than done. Even copy paste between sketches is hit or miss because X, Y and Z can point in completely different directions. Hopefully they'll fix redefine sketch plane at some point, that would open up copying sketches from the browser maybe?

One of the things that is much easier in the direct modeling environment is manipulating sketches- copy/ paste, moving, etc. Without having to keep history organized no doubt that is a much simpler task.

I agree that it would be intuitive to be able to simply copy a sketch selected in the browser to a new plane. But should the copied sketch be linked to the original, or paste as an independent entity? Or like other things, have the option of pasting either independently or linked with two distinct commands? I can see both being useful.
