Force stl output to have a better path?

I am designing a custom-volume measuring spoon to 3d print. It is looking great except for one thing- the handle seems to be less than perfectly attached to the half sphere. Despite making sure I extended my lines all the way to the interior surface of the sphere, rather then having them stop at the outer sphere, there is still a small gap when it prints.

How could I force the stl to generate so it draws the handle and the sphere as one continuous path, rather than splitting them up into two sections and thereby weakening them.

Have you tried to use fillet on that edges to getting rid of that problem.

If I understand what fillet does- I think that would make the problem worse, no?

By adding a fillet on the handle it would actually make less points of contact with the bowl.

Isn't there some way to reinforce mating edges with additional material?

it depends how your model is created. First: do you have just a single body in the browser?

If there are 2, then you need to go back and make sure that the handle is joined to the bowl.

Then, what Fillet will do is add that exact material you are looking for. Here is without the fillet:

I thought fillet just took material away. Nice to know it can do both.

Regarding the path- I originally did the same thing you did but I just didn't select the extra part on the end before I extruded the handle. It prints perfectly now!
