Copy Component To New Project

Can a component in a project be copied to a new Project?

My current SailGP "F50" project is already ~80Mb in size, and I'd like to copy a component to a new Project, so I can experiment with better ways to design it - still learning F360 techniques.

Once I'm happy with it, I'd "link" it to the main F50 project.

You sure can, it can be done from the Fusion 360 Data Panel.

Sorry, I probably wasn't clear in my post... I have a Project with a number of Components in it, and I'd like to copy one of those components into a new Project?

Found the way to do it... too easy! Right-click the Component, and select "Save Copy As", which will create a new project.

The name you gave to an assembly, containing your components, calling it a project confused me. Projects are major divisions under your team account which contain your assemblies folders and individual components.

Hey @MaxHugen,

adding to @jhackney1972, sometimes it won't allow you to copy to the projects that might be created by other people or it can be a team. If that is the case, just export it and upload it to the desired location and experiment the way you want.

Yes, I realised later as a newbie that I had my terminology wrong! I've now read up a bit on the Team and Project/File structures, so have a slightly better understanding of it now.

BTW, watched some of your videos, very interesting. 🙂
