Thank you for the reply. You triggered me to look at MeshMixer's "Make Solid" feature which appears to do something similar to intant-meshes. It doesn't convert to a quad mesh but creates equally sized tri-meshes which apparently eliminated all Fusion's issues with my mesh. My mistake was reducing the mesh in MeshMixer before exporting it because I thought Fusion wanted meshes with less than 10K triangles. But performance wasn't really all that bad with 90K. Anyway, the organic conversion is working now. Thank you again.

I am having difficulty getting organic mesh conversions to work and I can't find much information on how to troubleshoot the problems. Two out of three models fail with the error message:

The eagle and the horse both fail. The bear works perfectly. Models attached. If anyone has some insight for me I'd sure appreciate some direction.

My process is to create sketches and extrude them in fusion (solid modeling). I export the solids as mesh and import them into MeshMixer. I smooth all the hard edges in MeshMixer and export the result back out and import that back into Fusion for further modeling and CAM work.

I recommend using the quadriflow remesher in Blender. Remeshing might not always provide good results as these meshes are very coarse, and remeshing might result in self-intersecting geometry.

Another excellent alternative is InstantMeshes.
