topic Drawing Zones, Rev tables, and the lack thereof in Fusion Design, Validate & Document Forum

This is more of a statement than a question, but after going through the forums I think it needs to be said. First, let me start by saying I love Fusion 360. It's allowed me to grow a very nice design business, is very moderately priced, has many design features more expensive software lacks, listens to users, and updates accordingly. Pay close attention to that last one. I'm a user. Update accordingly. How on earth do you not yet have zones on the drawing borders for all the sheet sizes yet? Seriously? if I wasn't committed to this platform and was a new user, I'd see that and assume you didn't know what you were doing. I've been on the platform for six years I think, so I got a little too used to features being missing. In the early days there was an excuse. Not anymore

For all of you searching through the forums for an answer, saying to yourself "Surely they haven't left that out. I must be missing something!" I'm going to save you some time.

They. Don't. Have. Print. Zones.

It's not you.

Pretty sure that pointing out zones in a rev table is an ISO requirement. Add 'em guys. You've got them for some sheet sizes so it's not like you aren't aware.

That's like not having tolerances or centermarks. I do a lot of my drawings in SolidWorks even when I model in Fusion just because of things like that. That is not an ideal solution. I'm NOT going to draw up custom borders. I charge clients for time and they should not have to pay for your omissions.

While I'm ranting (apologies, I really do love the software, and use it despite being a 20 year SolidWorks veteran) let me add another thing. Your drawing zones on the sheets that do have them are too large. Let us customize them or default to 2-3" zones like we have in real life on any not-huge drawing. Also, since I have rant momentum, let me throw in rev tables. Not as big a deal as drawing zones, but WHY NO REV TABLE FEATURE? DO YOU EVEN CAD, BRUH? You've got parts lists, which are great. Name the only table more common than a parts list? Anyone? At least it's easy enough to make your own from the custom table, but it would be nice, maybe with an automatic date stamp in the last column (sigh......). Not a deal breaker like print zones, but seems like an oversight.

Anyway, love all the design features you've been rolling out over the past year. I really do. Spread some of that dev love over to the drawing space. I'll delete this post the minute you fix it.

Any user still reading, please throw in a comment if you agree.

I'd love to chat to you about the ongoing work that we are doing around revision tables, markers & clouds. We are continually building new features and enhancements in the drawings environment.

I just want to follow up and give credit where credit is due. After my rant, Autodesk reached out and is adding this to the list of possible features to vote on. They also showed some of the future plans regarding rev tables. Very good stuff coming along. I've been using SolidWorks for 2 decades and never gotten this level of response. Thanks Clint!

I echo most of this. Love Fusion. Need Rev Blocks.

Not so bothered about the drawing zones - i made my own borders (wasn't so hard or long once I got started).

But please add rev blocks, or make it possible to save a custom table of my own definition so I can apply it to each drawing!

Thanks

Hi All brief update on this post:

@ebrighton - Revision tables, markers and clouds were added back in April of last year: https://www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/blog/fusion-360-drawings-revision-tables-clouds-markers-are-here/

@david.fosters9 - Copy / Paste custom tables was added in January: https://www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/blog/January-2023-major-product-update/#Drawings

@ebrighton - I'd love to know what you mean by "Having Zones should be standard" - we have zones as standard in our title blocks and a column for zone in the revision table. Are you looking for some sort of auto-population?

@ClintBrown3D Sorry, I'm referring to print/drawing zones like the Original Post mentioned. Title blocks and Tables are easy enough to customize but is there a way to auto populate zone parameters? I too am a big fan of fusion and am transitioning from SW to F360 and was hoping to find a similar window like I pasted below to easily modify and customize the zones. Does that exist?
