Designing a carry-on luggage bag!

Hi Everyone!

I don't have a question specifically regarding a Fusion360 problem. Rather, I am wondering what you think about how a luggage bag, like the one attached to this post, should be designed. This type of bag is interesting because it has both rigid and soft components. I would like to model the bag, wheels and other rigid components in Fusion. Then, it would be nice to export this model as, perhaps a .dae, into a software like Clo3d/Marvelous. These software programs are 3D modelers for the fashion/apparel industry. Once in hear, I can model the soft components such as leather wrapped handles and the zipper.

What do you guys think? Any experience in this type of modeling?

Unless you need to model pillows with wrinkles, curtains, dresses and other cloth that has "flowing" geometry all of the geometry visible on the exterior of that suit case can be modeled in Fusion 360.

Yep. The only problem with the Zipper might be the amount of objects/teeth. If the Teeth are patterned componets that will help.

My professor is not on Autodesk as I am not in the engineering program. I have attached the .f3d file below. I have not made the most progress on it so far.

Looking to add in the other side, round the edges, and add the inserts in the case, along with many other things.

You have weak corners the way you have added Fillets.

Click and drag each Fillet in the Timeline to occur before the Shell feature.

Give it a try and Attach your progress here as you go.

Someone will help you along the way.

Start with rectangular luggage as in the image.

A backpack would be too hard to model for a beginner.
