Patch Type Dropdown, What is the difference?

@jeff_strater - I noticed something new in the patch command. When I click on the Analysis Tab and switch back to Feature Tab, a new "Patch Type" drop down appears, see below? So I guess I have two questions:

1. Is this a bug that it doesn't appear when the dialog box opens?

2. What is the difference between trimmed and bounded patch type? Under the hood, it still looks like the patch is a rectangular shape that is stamped out to fit the edges.

yes, I believe that is a bug. Good find! I'll report it to the team that added the Analysis tab - I think you are right that it is related to that new functionality.

I had to do some research. The first point is: This part of Patch does not work well. You have to go to Analysis to even see the UI, but also, it seems to be ignored when you hit OK (or it always defaults to Trimmed). But, the basic idea is: A Trimmed patch is over-built, and then trimmed back to the selected boundary. While, a Bounded patch is built exactly to the selected boundaries. That can lead to a less-smooth result. See the screencast below, which shows the difference (although that goes away when you hit OK, because of the bug above)

Well, the "new" version might not look great quite yet, but I for one find just the attempt to create better patch surface quality very positive and a promising, solid step in the right direction!
