How can I split this model of a skateboard so that it is made up of 5 even layers/ply?

I am working on a render for a skateboard to use for various projects. My skateboards have a total of 5 layers and I wanted to represent that in the model and be able to change the appearance of each layer.

I have the skateboard model as a solid, but how can I "split" the skateboard into multiple even layers?

Split the body with offset surfaces.

Because your edges are filleted, will not be as easy to do.

That file has no history, easier to do with a timeline file.

How about creating multiple construction planes, at the various thicknesses, split body, then change the appearance of each body. My model is attached, I used just a rectangle but you will get the idea.

in fusion this is very easy, you only cut the "surfaces" (not the body!). then you apply your colors to these five different surfaces. we don't have any color layers here. also watch videos.

You can shorten the timeline with a rectangular pattern of the first offset surface😊

Split the Faces (not cut surfaces) or body. Faces and Surfaces have specific meaning in Fusion 360.

Hi Mike,

Switch to the "Surface" tab and use the create "Offset" command to create new surface bodies that are offset by the thickness of your layers. These surface bodies will be used to split the main solid body into separate layer bodies. So switch back over to the Solid tab and use the modify "Split Body" command to split the main solid and use a surface body as the splitting tool.
