Not sure why I can't sweep this Circle segment along the perpendicular ellipse

I'm trying to get a kind of "bomb nose" effect but the sweep wont work. Not sure why. Trying to take Sketch 3 and rotate it along xy axis using sketch 1/ellipse border as the path. Am I just using the wrong tool?

Sweep is the right tool. Please check the file attached. I hope this is what you're aiming at.

Thank you for the help.

This is what I ended up with when I swept the ellipse in to sketch 3. A clamshell type effect. It's close, but I'm trying to get the segment(highlighted in screenshot) to rotate along the ellipse using the outer border of the ellipse as a guide. I want the "bomb nose" effect but in an ellipse rather than a circle. There has to be a way to do this and I know it's probably not the way I'm trying as I get an error when I attempt it.

Sorry about that, I changed it to jpg a moment later after I realized my mistake. Yes, that is exactly it. How did you get it to loft to the point?

The ellipse ist the first profile, the point is the second profile.
To selecting the rails one be one you have to deactivate "Chain Selection".
