Twisting a profile evenly across any rail

Hello,

I am wanting to twist a rope like profile using an oval shape as the centre rail.

However, on the tighter section of the curve the spacing of the twist condenses.

Is there a solution to space the twist evenly throughout the entire rail, and for any shape?

There is a script in this post that creates helixes, don't know if it will produce a different outcome.
