Hello Everyone,

Is Fusion 360 capable to create flat pattern from rolled profile?

If you add a very short straight section it can unfold a shape like that.

Edit, if you extride one of the end faces 10mm and create the flat pattern or unfold then go back and edit the extrude to 0.1mm it should still unfold.

The edges, rolled to the inside, require deformation of the metal. Fusion 360 cannot unfold features of this type.

but whole sheet metal is about deformation. If you will treat this profile as a solid bar 20x150 then Fusion will handle it. the difference is that in the profile you have a front panel which should be treated as 2mm thick plate but sides are bent as 20mm thick plate.

No.

You will need Autodesk Inventor Professional with Contour Roll to unfold that.

Here's a cheat, don't know if it will work in the real world and breaks too many rules? What I did was create a copy of the rolled U section when it was unfolded using Boundary Fill. Then converted the copy into a sheet metal part and unfolded. One problem is you can't have a flat pattern and unfold the part. Unfolding then refolding the copy turns it back into the original part. The attached file has a valid flat pattern? don't know if it will be any use.

it works:) I worried if the middle line for bending will be somewhere in the middle of profile cross section, but the material shortened around 3mm which is close to the real life.
