topic while creating a Face flips Normal at one Line in Fusion Design, Validate & Document Forum

Hello everyone,

so this is my last hope to get my problem solved. I need to split a solid with a face. So i made a 3D sketch outlining the face (pic 1), but it seems like at one line of the outline the normal of the face gets flipped (pic 2/3). I already tryed to redo everything and create a face next to the critical point. Neither of those options work.

Thanks for your reply in advance.

Sammy

File is attached.

PS: the positioning of the Line is not 100% fix. I just recreated from a referece picture (which even has perspective)

Your first action when starting with a new, complex software should be to go through a number of tutorials.

Your sketches are off into space, not dimensioned, not constrained.

I'd start with fully constraining and dimensioning sketches.

Don't use 3D sketches for this!

Great Job, thank you very much! But im trying to figure out how you did it.

@TheCADWhisperer
I know how its done right, but I if i dont have any reference for mesurements I dont use any dimensioning for the beginning. Later in the process I do the measureing properly. But to fit the button box to my steering wheel, the steering wheel needs to be delivered 😄 My only reference point at this moment is the 70mm pitch circle in the center of the wheel. Normaly I start over in a new file when I know every mesurement.

That means you don't know how to do it right 😉

The purpose of fully dimensioning and constraining a sketch is not only to have a correctly sized object, but primarily to have a solid foundation in a locked down sketch that resists accidental modifications. The latter is very easy to do.

I had model attached to my 1st reply, BTW.
