Stuck on mirror-function??

Hi friends, i have made a simple drawing and want to mirror this. (RC-aeroplane wing).

I choose "Mirror" but cant chose any objects??

They seem to be looked ore something?

I might be in wrong "mode" ore something? (Is completely new to to this program).

1. You sketch should be fully defined (dimensioned and constrained.

2. You should not mirror a complete sketch. Sketch and model half of the 3D geometry and mirror that

3. The reason you cannot mirror is probably because you are not actively editing the sketch and are using the solid modeling mirror command.

Can ju tell me more about this? How do i get to the rigt mode?

I am i n scetchmode but cant mirror any lines at all?

If not, then I would recommend you do.

There are two possibilities here:

you are using the wrong mirror command to mirror sketch geometry. There are two Mirrors:
sketch mirror:

feature mirror:

If you choose the Feature Mirror command, you will not be allowed to select sketch geometry
You are editing the wrong sketch. In the image below, there are two sketches. Sketch1 contains the rectangle and the circle, but I am currently editing Sketch2. You can tell this because the rectangle and circle are kind of dimmed out. If you are editing Sketch2, you cannot select geometry from Sketch1 to mirror:

Now, whether you should be mirroring sketch geometry is another point that @TrippyLighting is making here. In general, there are not many scenarios where mirroring sketch geometry is a great idea - usually you can create solid geometry from 1/2 of the sketch, and mirror the faces or bodies instead, and it is usually faster. There are certainly cases where mirroring sketch geometry is OK, and is easier, so this is not a hard-and-fast rule, just a kind of best practice recommendation.

What is your language? If you are scandinavian I can explain in norwegian if that could work better for you.

I went to Extrude and managed to get around the problem.

Slowly learning how this program is built up 🙂
