Hey guys... I'm wondering if there's a setting I need to change or if there is nothing I can do.

Basically let's say I have a body and create a sketch in the center of the body on an angle. When I click 'look at' in the sketch palette then it orients the view to the angle of the plane, but it centers the view where it wants to.

What I want to do is be able to zoom in while still having the view perpendicular to the plan on which I'm working. Is there a way to do this?

Hi,

If you have activated 3D Sketch in the Sketch Palette, you should switch off this option.

If this is not the case, show the behaviour in a screencast.

günther

no, there is no way to control the zoom factor for "look at". It zooms to the extent of the sketch. But, remember, for a sketch, that includes a point at the sketch origin. Look At will zoom to include that origin. There isn't anything you can do about that, unfortunately. But, this has come up before, and we are looking at better approaches for the future.

Here's a quick screencast of my issue ( I want to be able to zoom in on the edge section but still be perpendicular to the plane without any shifting or slight angle).

Actually, I'm not sure how to embed a screencast

Hi,

Now that I understand what this is about, I can point out the zoom to position buttons on the CAD mouse.
However, I cannot say in which way this is implemented by 3-D Connexion.

günther

Change your view to Orthogonal, or Perspective with Ortho Faces.

That way, once you have used "look at" you can pan and the view will remain perpendicular to the view axis.
