Hi! I´ve been trying to close a dent in a dog´s hip orthesis model I´m building in Fusion 360, but I´ve been unsuccessful. I think the best option is to use boundary fill, but I don´t know why is not working. Here´s a picture to clarify. Does anyone know what can I do?

Please attach your model as it is extremely hard to recommend something when the Forum users cannot see the file structure. If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section of a forum post to attach it.

Here it is! I was able to narrow the dent with tools "ruled" and "offset", but the surfaces I get with those are unleveled, so the dent remains.

Sorry, I didn't realize it was in .3mf. The file is too big to attach, but here's a wetransfer link to download it.

Can you explain what the goal of this design is?

The initial surface(s) were created using a re-meshing tool and then were converted into a T-spline and then NURBS, Or an alternative toolset was used to get from a re-meshed quad mesh to a NURSB surface.

Trying to work with this with the normal surfacing tools or even the Solid Modeling tools in Fusion 360 is going to be quite an uphill battle. These NURBS surfaces are very densely populated with NURBS control points, which is why the file is so large. They also exhibit strong curvature problems.

Whatever the goal might be, you may have to lower your expectations as to what is achievable!

I applied the curvature map tool and to the two initial imported surfaces and the curvature combs to two edges.

The project is a hip orthesis for my dog! I understand I might have to make it simpler than how I originally wanted it, but right now I just want to close the dent. I'm a little new with Fusion, so I don't really understand what the curvature map does. Can you show me how it looks from above? And thank you for the help!

I need much more information before we can continue.

What data and method did you use to get the geometry into Fusion 360?

Was this scanned data in form of a triangular mesh?

Do you still have that data?

My approach would be to re-mesh this using a lot less dense quad mesh. As is, the model will be very difficult to work with.

I would also like o see a hand sketch of the geometry you are imagining. The hack/slash workflow in the current model does not allow me to see any design intent.
