Hello!

I am trying to run a static simulation on a cantilevered beam for a project in class. I am to apply a triangular distributed load as shown in the picture below. I've built my beam, I just cannot figure out how to change the distributed load from rectangular to the increasing triangle as shown.

Can someone explain how I can apply the needed load?

Thank you!

Hi @amfensch2ARM5

There is only one type of load that applies a linearly-varying load: Hydrostatic pressure.

The pressure at a depth is p = x*density. Based on the width of the flange and length of 9 feet, you can work out what density you need to give 3 kip/foot at the 9 foot dimension.

John.
