Guys, you need to fix the insert edge tool in the sculpt environment, both positive and negative values are going in the same direction ...

actually, looking a bit deeper, it looks like just the preview is wrong. On OK, the inserted edge goes to the correct side if negative. It's still a bug, but it's good the results are correct:

Yes you're right, the preview is the problem I just checked
I didn't bother clicking the OK button when I saw the preview, but the end result works fine
