Iam making components out of bodies and would like the component to contain relevant sketches. How do I do this?

thanks JR

you should do it in the other order - create the component (which will activate that component), then create the sketch inside of the component, then use features (Extrude, etc) to create bodies, also inside of the component.

You can sometimes restructure your design afterward (try dragging the sketch into the component). Sometimes that work, but if you have cross-body or cross-component references, it may fail

You create the component first, then making sure it is active the sketches and bodies will automatically appear under it. If you have not done this, sometimes you can create a new component and then left click drag a body sketch into it and the body will follow. This will not work if there are dependencies.

I'll refer you to Fusion 360's R.U.L.E #1 & #2

But consider that the 1st paragraph/sentence is aimed at beginners as it offers a plan B.

The alternative workflows mentioned are perfectly valid.

If you are only designing a single discrete piece, you don't need to create a component as every FUiosn 360 design already is a component.

thanks Men, Merry Christmas to all, I am deep into fusion. I have made some terrific things but somehow I was on coffee break when Rule #1 came down from Fusion mountain. I will prevail tho. JR
