Trying to incorporate text into a model. Not having much luck.

Hi: I'm trying to make a welcome sign. I am using a font I downloaded called "script 9" It is my understanding that when adding text to a model, it is exploded and then can be extruded. In my case, I can explode the text but it will not completely extrude. Some letter extrude, some don't. I checked to make sure each letter was a closed loop and they are. I tried the ariel font and I was able to explode and extrude.

What am I doing wrong? If this font just won't work, can you recommend a font that will?

Yeah, some fonts can be a bit inaccurate. The usual method here is to use the "divide and conquer" method to find where the bad geometry is. I started with the "W". Edit the sketch and add a bunch of lines to try to track down where the bad geometry is:

So, the problem is at the tip of the "W". Keep doing that:

finally, I found that there was one bad curve near the tip:

I replaced that with just a line, and that fixed the "W":

You can try other fonts, but if you like this one, it is repairable.

Hi,

1.What font type do you use?
Fusion prefers OTF fonts.

2.Nevertheless, some fonts may cause the problems described above.

Thank you Jeff. I downloaded the fixed file but I also want to try the steps you suggested as a learning experience.

Hi,

The reason for the behaviour is the excessive amount of control points (Figure 1).
Figure 2 shows the result after the conversion for comparison.
