Sub folders in assets

How can i make a sub folder in assets?

I am trying to build a part library and in older versions of fusion i have seen in youtube videos there used to be a button that said new folder and you could create a folder for a type of part say like 8020 stuff?

I dont understand how to do this now? Why cant i make a sub folder?

When i click save, the only place i can save a part is under "projects"

How am i suppose to create a part library

are you referring to a new folder in the data panel, in your project? That is here:

but, perhaps you are referring to something else.

I don’t have that button that says new folder

the button is there, but is grayed out? Are you online? The above is what you get when offline.

If that is not it, are you in a project you have write access to?

What kind of license do you have? I'm not aware of any license-based limitations on folder creation.

I have a fully paid license and im

online. The button is just completely gone and not greyed out it’s just not there

was this maybe a new “feature” they put in?
I don’t understand but this is really frustrating

no, there has been no change to the data panel. I am on the latest release, and also have a commercial license equivalent, and the New Folder button is definitely there in my projects. Also, have not heard this concern from other customers. Have you tried re-installing Fusion? I know that is an annoying thing to suggest, but I cannot think of anything else to try, to be honest. Since you have a commercial license, you can open a support ticket and get Product Support involved.

People seem to be missing the point that the OP is referring to being within the ASSETS project. If I am within this "project" I also do not get a new folder button.

there is NO new folder button

i think auto desk needs to get involved here. This is not just me.

ah, you are right. I mistook "assets" as a more generic term than the "Assets" projects. You are correct, you cannot create folders in the Assets project. I don't think that is a change, but let me check. Thanks for clarifying that, @mike.lerwill

Then how do I make a new folder to collect my components

I have seen this done in training videos

for instance I download a bunch of stuff from McMaster and I want to save them in a folder organized in a specific fashion

The "Assets" folder is specifically for the use of CAM Post Processors, libraries, machine configurations and other CAM components. This folder is not for general collection of Fusion models and whatnot

So instead of telling me what it's not for how about offering a solution?? Everyone seems to be doing this in training videos All i want to do is create a folder to store downloaded components! Why is this so hard!

Create a desired folder in this area here, using the "New Project" option:

Rename it to "Downloaded Components" or some such convention. Inside of that folder, you can now create as many folders as your heart desires.

Why would I want to create a new project

I want this to be a generic folder any project can access

That WILL be a project/folder/directory accessible by everyone on your Team Hub.

The Assets folder is not the place for these files, hence, my suggestion at creating a new place to put them.

For example, I have a "project" called Fixturing, inside of the Liberty project. Inside of that Fixturing project is countless sub-folders with vises, jaws, lathe chucks etc etc

I want to know why magically i have a folder called parts in my software. I want to know who from autodesk went into my account and made this change without my authorization. I have not returned to fusion for a week or back to this forum. When i logged in i magically have a folder called parts now and a button that says "new folder"! This was a complete violation of my privacy and i did not authorize it

Autodesk did not go into your folders and create a new one. Are there any other users on your Team hub?
