Howdy, this is my first time on this forum so nice to be here. I'm working on an iron man helmet, because you know, I'm a huge nerd, and I've made the faceplate into different bodies, which I know want to stitch together and thicken. However, anytime I try I get an error saying *The operation could not create a valid result, Try adjusting the values or changing the inputs* However when I to thicken the bodies individually, not stitched, it works fine.

Any idea why this is happening? And what I can do to fix it? Or should I just do it individually and leave it that way.

Please attach your model, containing the surfaces. If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section of a forum post to attach it.

I am pretty sure it is because of the sharp edges between some of the faces. I added surface fillets, where they would take, and it thickened ok. I will have to leave this one up to someone else.

Not that this is a good solution, but might help you and others to isolate the problem: I found out that whatever preventing successful thicken is in the left side of the helmet, because when I cut it in half I could thicken it to 2 mm (but not more). I think there are problems around the eye... To improve with your current model maybe it's better you first make the thickened body without eyes, then cut them away.

That being said If I wanted to to make this helmet I would do it in From environment, which could help making smoother surface and take advantage of symmetry.

File is attached, with whole the surface thickened to 2 mm (though as I said this is not a real solution, hopefully others will help better).

I got it to work, however it was a bit weird. I redid the patch parts on the entire face, but this time including the eyes. After this I stitched it together, then deleted the eyes. After this it worked fine trying to extend it.

You are using the patch tool on 3D splines curving freely through space.

No way that this will result in clean curvature, and that is the reason you are encountering thickening problems.

Just look at the curvature map:
