topic Create a model with material thickness that you can be changed and model will update? in Fusion Design, Validate & Document Forum

Hi All,

We are looking to create products using a specific material thickness (wood), but some times due to availability we need to buy a slightly different material thickness. Is there a way to input the material thickness so that it can be updated and the model will then automatically update to that?

Hi,

You can achieve this by defining the maaterial thickness as a variable in the parameter list and assigning it in the design.
The design is then adjusted according to the current material thickness.

I suggest attaching an example model that you would like to do this with (export as a .f3d and attach). how well this works is highly dependent on how well the model was made. there can be a learning curve for that. working thru an example with folks here can help you along with that.

Is this a machining question or a modeling question? Is the material always thicker than the final product?
