Hello there!,

I'm trying to design a cockpit backrest for an RC airplane but I'm having problems lofting the two surfaces.

I'd like it to be a new body that has the upright surface extend back and taper down to the bottom surface.

And then I'd like to make it hollow with a 1.5mm wall thickness.

Please see the attached file.

I also included a picture of how I'd like it too look.

Thanks

Glen

I would add a rail curve:

Thanks Jeff for the great instructional demo!!!!

I did try putting a rail in during one attempt, but I was not able to get it too attach too the upright surface top. I'll see if I can recreate your moves and get it too work. Then Ill have to try and remember how to make the bottom open and the inside hollow.

I'll get back too you after my attempt.

Thanks

Glen

The key is here:

within the rail sketch, use the Intersect command to create a point that is the precise intersection between the profile curves and the rail curve sketch plane. For a longer explanation on loft and rails, see: introduction-to-loft-using-rail-curves-in-fusion .

To make it open, you can create it as a solid, as in the screencast, then use Shell to remove the two planar faces and set a thickness. There are other options as well, but this should work.

Yes!!!, thanks to your very generous time and effort it worked like a charm!!!!!!

Cool!

Glen
