(New to F360)

I had changed my default material in Preferences from Metal to Wood and then reverted to F360 defaults to get it back to Metal/Steel.

However, when I'm creating a new component, it shows as wood.

Attached is the file showing the latest drawer face as wood.

What setting needs to be changed so that new components will be and display as Metal/Steel?

Thanks in advance,

Delain

I am sure you made this change in default Material in mid-stream of the design of this assembly. Because of this you have a Metal Appearance "stuck" in the design. Follow the Screencast and all will be fixed. When you start and finish the design without changing material in mid-stream, this will probably not happen. I will not return the corrected model as it is such an easy change.

Edit: I misread your Forum Question. I read you wanted to have wood as your default for new components. Sorry, my answer is Void.

@jhackney1972 - I think you may have misread the post on your re-read.

I did in fact want any new components to remain as Metal.

At one point in my design, I played around with trying to change the Preference Materials to be Wood. Then, later in the design, I reset the Preferences to Metal. So, I suppose there was some straggler of wood material somewhere.

But, if my Preference is changed at a certain point in the process, shouldn't any new components, from that point forward, be that material?

If I start out with Wood as Default Preference, create some components, then change Preference to Metal, shouldn't the next components be metal?

I'm still trying to understand Materials vs Appearance usage.

@aliobidi - I tried the Unassign/Delete with the top assembly selected and it did not completely remove all of the wood assignments. I had to select the one drawer front and directly make it metal. Then, I could go in and delete the wood usage. Not sure what is going on with that.

May very well have something to do with my design sequence vs application of material.

I'm following along in a video tutorial and may have missed a point or something.

edit: @aliobidi - Hmmm, so I didn't understand your post completely I guess. So, select Physical Materials at the Top Assembly, then use that Unassign/Delete command from within that dialog.

I presumed it was in the Appearance dialog. Thanks

Adds to my confusion of Materials/Appearance usage.

Thank you,

Delain
