I'm trying to create a 3d part to go with a leatherwork project I'm currently working on. It's a steampunk mask which has a removable goggle.

The goggle is mad from a flat piece of leather which wraps around the front of the mask and is held in place with press fixings. This flat goggle piece has two eye holes, for which I want to model and 3d print a pair of "eye pieces".

I have the flat shape of the goggle (and eye holes) as an SVG which I've imported into Fusion360, but I'm now stumped as how I can wrap this shape (without changing it's size in any way). When wrapped I know how wide/far apart the back edges need to be from each other and I know the distance from the front of the goggle to the back. I just don't know how to go about doing it.

I've attached a diagram of the piece I'm working with and how it wraps around the goggle. The leather moulded eyepieces in the photo will be replaced with the 3d printed pieces I'm trying to build in fusion360.

Hope someone can point me in the right direction. 🙂

Soft material folding/unfolding is not something that Fusion can do today. There is an addin called "ExactFlat" that can do it, but it is a bit spendy (well, the addin is free, but ExactFlat service is expensive, from what I understand).

Meshmixer (https://www.meshmixer.com/ ) can also do a bit of unfolding. It operates on meshes, so you would have to model the shape in 3D, export to a mesh, then use Meshmixer to unfold it.

If the shape is curved in only one direction this is easy to do with a sheet metal approach.
