At this time, the only way to duplicate a Fusion 360 2D drawing and maintain its link to the model, used to create it, is to follow an achieving process from the web database. The Screencast will show the process. It may seem long but it only takes a few second once you understand the picks and clicks. I hope you understand, you will have a new model and a new drawing to the new model only so plan your file management well.

I have a drawing with several views, a couple section views, and dimensions.

I would like to duplicate that drawing so that I can modify it accordingly for each operation for inspection.

The drawing took me about 30 min to create, and I have 5 drawings to make from that parent drawing. I would prefer not to spend 2 and a half hours re creating the drawings, but I cannot seem to find a way to copy and paste or duplicate any of the existing information?

I am sure this is some niche thing that experienced users know ..... but I could not find anything via google searching. Tons of information about sketches, but none for drawings.

thanks

Hi @M&GToolWorks

Depending on exactly what you are looking for, there is a workflow that you can use. Try File > Save As, name the new file for each operation and modify accordingly. Hopefully that will work for you.

The team has just started early work on duplicating sheets within a drawing. This is something that we plan to add to Fusion in a future release, check out the public roadmap here.

If you're up for it, here is a link to my calendar, please book a Zoom session with me, I'd like to dive a bit deeper and fully understand the use case. I can walk you through what we have planned and maybe even show a sneak peek of some upcoming drawing features.

Mr. Brown and Mr. Hackney,

Thank you both for your responses. Both offered solutions do not seem to be preferable options, due to not referencing the model that is used to manufacture the parts. To me this defeats the purpose of using a product like Fusion.

I could have just as easily fired up the old computer, loaded a DXF from my modeled part into AutoCAD and produced the necessary drawings. This seems just as silly? Though it would be quicker, and cleaner than having several un related or un linked designs and drawings.

Mr. Brown, thank you for the offer to meet and discuss further. Unfortunately my computer has neither video nor audio, so I am unable to have a zoom session with you.

You need to review my solution a bit closer, it does create a copy of the drawing that is "linked" or "references" the model. Of course it is not the original, you would not want that, but a copied model you can edit to suit your needs. The changes you make will be reflected in the copied 2D drawing.

I'd be happy to call you on the telephone to discuss. If you follow the link to my calendar to find a time that works for you, just make a note in the booking form that you'd prefer a phone call and not Zoom.

Look forward to chatting and hopefully helping.
