topic Extrude "Select Profile" only highlights parts of desired sketch, not full sketch (due to other bodies/sketches present) in Fusion Design, Validate & Document Forum

I understand this is part of F360's functionality, but wondering if there is an override if desired:

I often find myself sketching a profile in a new sketch around another existing body or sketch. Then I want to do an extrusion, cut etc using this new sketch. However, when I go to "Select Profile" in Extrude (hoping to pick up the new sketch), the selection highlights segments of it, broken up by other bodies and sketches in the area.

I've attached a picture- the idea being, I sketched the outermost circle as a new sketch, intending to extrude a cylinder that is the outermost OD. But it picks up all the internal detail.

I realize I could just manually click all the broken up segments until I have the full region, but it seems hack-y. Is there a better way?

Window selection will do what you wish.

With certain Preference for auto project on or off, and particular attention to detail will avoid your problem.

Use Offset Plane no auto project and draw a circle on the plane, - only one profile.

Might help....

Yes a window is one approach. However it just seemed odd, as this is a simple example and in more complex examples you could be picking up 10s of profiles to do what is actually simply 1 profile. Was wondering if I was missing something.

Offset plane could be an approach. At first I thought "but I don't want to offset it" but I saw that you can just leave it at 0" and then it only picks up the new sketch then.

I'll leave this open for a bit in case anyone has alternative approaches? As the offset plane introduces an extra step.
