Yes they are Fusion 360 models,

and as they are “parametric” we need to keep all the construction history.

and saving them in a generic file format to reimport in the right orientation is not an option.

Yes, use the options in the Navigation cube, right click menu.

set your desired top view, reset current view to Top.

Might help....

Yes, I know this tip, but my concern is more to find a way to physically change the Z of the model, in order to get it in the right orientation when assembling them.

for any reason in our organisation we have some people working Y-up and other Z-up.

and we want to work all as Z-up.

so we have some legacy models to convert to the new orientation.

There is no magic way to do this. You would have to select all the components in your design, and rotate them so that they have the orientation with respect to the Z axis that you want. There are many ways to do this, depending on the model in question. You might be able to get away with just a simple component rotation, if you are OK with the model being in the "wrong" orientation until the end of the timeline. It is much harder to go back in time and change the model recipe to be correct from the beginning. Sometimes you can get away with Redefine Sketch Plane on the first sketch, but that would only work if everything was based off that sketch, or off geometry derived from that sketch.
