Hi

I got help before unfolding a cylinder I am working on and know how to add a flange and extrude a flat surface and then unfold it.

But this time I am don't have a gap big enough to have a free extruded flat surface to unfold with and that has got me confused.

I assume I should still be able to do this, but I think I need some advice:

I am hoping to unfold the whole area with just a minor split.

Any help will be appreciated and I have attached the fusion file for you to look at.

Regards

Ian

that is a limitation/requirement of a sheet metal model. You must have a planar face somewhere in your model in order to create a flat pattern.

Hi

So as this stands, I take it I carn't unfold it?

Regards

Ian

Add a microscopic planar face.

Edit: After looking at the file - if this were my design I would start over from scratch using what was learned from this attempt to simplify the construction of the geometry. I would use the BORN Technique as much as possible and practical.
