offset lines are not shown as symmetrical and the offset distance is wrong

As shown below, I want to create an offset by a parameter called "of" that is set as 1/256 inch on both side of a vertical line.

However, the resulting offset lines are not shown as symmetrical, not to mention that the dimension is wrong.

Is it related to the precision of Fusion 360 in the unit of Inch?

What do you have set for your Default Units (in or ft)?

I vaguely recall some sort of issue related to this, but trying to jog my memory.

In this video, you disable "two sides", so you are creating only one offset here, with the value of "od":

The design you shared (thank you) shows two different offsets, on with a value of "od" (value 1/256), and the other with a value of "1/128" (no expression)

- No, I clicked "two sides" again before clicking "OK". Pls watch the video carefully.

- No, I input "od", short for "offset distance", which is defined as "1/256" in the parameter table. Pls watch the video carefully.

I was using Fusion 360 Personal for Mac OS when posting this issue. As shown below, this error can be replicated for Fusion 360 Personal for Windows.

I'm very disappointed that such an obvious error still can't be verified by Autodesk, not to mention corrected.

1. Error One: Parameter defined as "1/256 inch" is shown as "1/128" for its "value".

I think I documented this issue a couple of years ago but can't find the discussion thread.

If this is the same issue that I saw then, I was able to track the bug down to a particular set of Preference settings.

If I am correct on this, then because you can reproduce on both Mac and Windows - we should be able to track this down.

In the screencast above, I used your file, removed the existing offset and created a new one.
The result is as expected.

Doesn't matter. I did the same and could not reproduce the issue. So neither one of us (or @jeff_strater ) have yet figure out how to reproduce the behavior.

But the issue clearly exists as demonstrated in the video by @the_oat_cracker

Two lines were created by the offset command at different distances as observed in the file and in the video.

OK, I think I remember how to reproduce the bug now.

I'll create a video if I can reproduce.

I finally recalled the steps to reproduce the bug.

At least three issues here

1. A fraction of 1/256

2. Parameter solver

3. Display of Ft and fractional inches.

and

4. Clearly incorrect display/measure of different distances.

@the_oat_cracker - I'm also able to reproducethe issue. doesn't seem to have anything to do with fractional display or units. it's it's not putting the formula in the second dimension, just the calculated value. clearly a bug. for now yo can work around by manually inputting the formula.

Hi! I suspect this has something to do with "Link Offset" option in the Offset command panel. If the option is unchecked, the two sides are driven by two independent parameters.
