I can follow most of the steps but I would love play-by-play so I can expand on this.

It looks like you rotated boxes around the center point, constrained the numbers to the center using construction lines but I am not sure what the orange constructions boxes are for. Was that constrained to the circle and the numbers were aligned with it?

Hello,

I am working on a dial and I am having trouble figure out to how circular numbers around the edge.

I have attached two screen shots.

The Mockup is the rough design I am going for and the Current is the best I can do follow tutorials online and on these forums.

Does anyone have a work flow for getting numbers to follow a line instead of being placed above or below a line?

other than manual placement of each character, I don't think there is a way to do this today. Good idea, though...

Here is a way to do it manual to give accurate placement, as @jeff_strater said. If you need any further explanation on how to do it, let me know. You can make the numbers large or smaller if needed. Model is attached.

Edit: Sorry I missed attaching the model, it is attached now.

I sort of refined my method as I went along on the model I sent you. In the Screencast I used the method I ended up with on the last numbers of my supplied model. Of course all dimensions are up to you as well as text size.

After you have patterned your 10x10 boxes and you want to add text choose "Text on path".

Select edge of box as the path.

If text height same as box dimension then it works well.

Some adjustment required for alignment above or below line and flipping horizontal/vertical but I think it saves the extra effort of creating and aligning text boxes.
