Hi everyone,
I am really new on fusion 360, and i am trying to modify a model downloaded online, that is arledy set to be modifiable by the user.

I found on youtube a video on how to change the parameters of an object; although this function works well on almost all the functions of the body, there are a couples of holes, that haven't been modified properly, thus now the prgram states that there is no surface to cut in that place.

In particular i modified the heigght, lenght and width of the box, and the errors are related to extrusion 30 and 31.
Hoping to receive some suggestions on how to fix this issue.
best regards Lorenzo

I did not get very far with this, but I did notice a couple of things:

the failures are there, latent, before any parameter changes. Just open the model and do Compute All, and you will see a failure in Extrude 30 and 31.

For me, if I change the height, length, and width parameters, the failures happen in Extrude 27 and 29, not 30 and 31 All these failures seem to be of the same kind - the feature has lost the reference to the body to be cut.

I have not seen failures of this exact nature before. I'll try to dig in a bit more this weekend to see if I can figure out how to fix it so that it is fully parametric.

Here is my attempt to model this more efficiently. Only 4 much simpler sketches so far. I missed a detail at the hinges and need to fix that.

But you can see that my timeline is substantially shorter

That looks great,
In your model it is really easy to scale directly from the parameters and I mean it is almost half the timeline respect to the previous one, Thanks a lot Pet.

I managed to design again the seal, because also in that case was overcomplicated, and i was wondering what to do with the pieces to lock, i will try to design them too.
I am trying to separate the components in order to export them separately in the printing software (CURA), however i didn't find a way to do it.

Hope to hear back from you in the future.

I am planning to introduce on the side of the box, in between of the columns a case, for which i already have the cad, to host a sensor DHT22, i was wondering if it is necessary to design it again or there is a more straigtforward manner to do it.

A .stl file is NOT a CAD file. CAD software works predominantly with BRep geometry and .stl files contain triangulated meshes, the least common denominator of 3D data.

I would re-create that using native Fusion 360 functionality. the added benefit is that you'll actually learn Fusion 360 in the progress 😉
