You must be in Direct Modeling mode (no timeline, not Capturing Design History) to move a construction plane. The Screencast will show you how.

For beginners and even intermediate users I would strongly advise against NOT using the timeline.

To move a construction plane with a timeline enabled you would edit the feature in the timeline.

You'll loose all the parametric features of Fusion 360.

In case of problems it makes it very difficult for us to follow the workflow that was used to create geometry, because the design history, a very important part of modern parametric modelers, ( not just Fusion 360) was not recorded.

Hi,

If you offset a plane, only one axis (the X axis in your example) is changed. As @TrippyLighting has already mentioned, this offset can also be edited subsequently when the history is activated.
Moving in Z and Y direction has no effect (in this case), because the plane is quasi infinite and is only limited in the display representation (at first). You can enlarge or reduce it by dragging the edges and thus also change its position.

günther

Hi!,

This is kinda weird! because you can still move an offset plane in any direction/rotation if you switch to the Forms environment only! i recently discovered this whistle watching a tutorial on how to design an airplane using fusion 360 My question is: why only in the Forms environment is this feature available?. ie: the MOVE command.

To me!, it would seem only logical that if you can create an offset plane in the Solid tab or the surface tab and in the forms environment and drag the offset plane to a specified distance from the origin! but after doing so you cannot edit/move/rotate the offset plane except in the Forms environment where it is possible to change the orientation that offset plane.

As for the timeline, i fail to comprehend why it has to be turned OFF , to me ,that doesn't make sense either!

I don't quite understand the reason , unless this is a design flaw in fusion 360.

Hi!,

This is kinda weird! because you can still move an offset plane in any direction/rotation if you switch to the Forms environment only!

The form environment is a direct modeling environment.

For that to work you'll have to create that construction plane while editing the form.

You can also create a base feature and then create the construction plane while editing the base feature.

Both the base feature and the form environment are direct modeling environments.

It would indeed be easier if the move command could be extended to also include construction planes. It just hasn't been implemented yet.
