Mesh Section Sketch Workflow Questions

In order to create an outline of the floor plane in a cargo van 3D Scan, I had to cut three Mesh Section Sketches. There just was not one precise plan that captured all the outlines.

Now I want to to combine those all into one sketch and I'm noticing a bunch of things, mainly these Mesh Sections don't work like other sketches:

You cannot save a Mesh Section Sketch as DXF.

You can not edit the sketch (OK, I understand that it is derived from the Mesh), but you also cannot copy the sketches to move to a new file or to combine the sketches.

When adding to the sketch, none of the lines from the mesh are available to the new sketch shapes, you cannot

Is there a know workflow to export or reuse mesh section sketches as references to create other objects?

Thanks!

I think the Screencast will show what you are looking for. Make sure you are editing the sketch containing the MeshSection to see the commands.

More to follow your questions,

(most mesh sectioned sketches are not as clean as John's)

1 Yes you can save as DXF - but as the video shows, the brown lines are not part of the main sketch, but have a sorta history attached to them, the top part of the sketch is empty until you trace or create other articles in the top section of the owner sketch.

2 The redefined sketch will update that brown section, if you wanted to redefine the sketch position, so history of a sort.(Not sure if the tracing is associative - never tried it - imagine that to be unstable)

Copy the articles in the top portion of the sketch does work.

3. Using fit curves to section, uses snapping points from the mesh body (- careful it's cluncky), but as said, not sure they will be tied as if it's a projected point.

Might help....
