Hi yall,

I need some ideas on how to clean up a channel that reconnects to its self. Where the channel reconnects, it's not seamless which effects the tool path in CAM. I've tried a lot of different things, but would love some extra brain power.

Attached is a picture that shows the issue and .f3d file.

-Thanks,

Z

If you remove the Lead-in and Lead-out and use a ramp, it should machine correctly.

Thank yall so much for the tips and advice. I was not very clear in my original post... how do I design this part without the channel having an angled change in direction? About every method I've used has left me with the channel slightly angled -- the movements are slightly abrupt leaving me with not the finest end product. I want to inlay some material in this channel and want it to be a smooth transition. Please see the picture below. I've highlighted the angled section in red that I want to make a more continuous flow. Thanks!

Thank yall once again for your help. I played around with fillets a little but could get one side looking good (the side that needed material taken off) and not the other (the side that had too much material taken off). What ended up working was changing my shape for the sweep cut from a square to a circle. It allowed for a smooth transition as seen in the pic below. I'll attach the file if anyones interested...

Thanks again!!
