I want to design the chain drive system for my machine design.

i want to drive the chain. please give me some suggestion.

While others have shown how to do this with motion studies and very laborious workarounds, this cannot be done with Fusion 360 in a reasonable straight-forward way, that is practical for every day mechanical design work.

It is usually also not necessary in order to create a functional mechanical design.

Hi Mr Joshipd283,

As you have been advised by the Expert(s), F360 doesn't handle kinematic-rich structures very well. As a matter of fact, not too many software do. The problem is at least two-fold. The respective algorithms and the math behind them are neither simple nor easy to implement. The other issue is that it is questionable to implement them in a real-time interaction scenario on the standard hardware. It might be reasonable to mention also … that the price level of Fusion Ultimate might not support the development-related expenses … hopefully only yet.

Having said that, please find some samples (I hope entertaining) of the development I committed years ago.

To be viewed on 4K media devices (monitors, UHD TVs, projectors...) of reasonable performance. For the best experience, use stand-alone media applications (WMP, VLC) and the native resolution 3840x2160 - full screen. The '_arcd' files require an anaglyph red/cyan glasses, while '_al' is for an active shutter glasses 3D hardware (~30 deg viewing angle is recommended). Download the files over a network, where the cost of doing so is not a concern. The files are to be used for private, non-commercial purposes only.

Tip: Model one tooth and Pattern Feature rather than use a sketch pattern.

And these points are not Coincident connected...

Animating the sprockets is straight forward.

Is there a specific reason for animating the chain itself? (Is this a "just want to" exercise - because it is not an easy endeavor.)

Are there any unresolved issues highlighted in your Timeline?

Does Ctrl b (CMD b on Mac) return any issues?

Have you unnecessarily used Move(s)? (Answer is yes.)

Chain appears to be non-standard.

Will you manufacture this in-house?

i am sharing you the main machine which i want to manufacture. the chain, we can manufacture in house. so if it is non standard , no problem.

This one would be too complicated - my opinion is that it is simply a bridge too far.

Maybe someone else here would be interested in tackling in Fusion 360.

I would use Autodesk Inventor Professional > Dynamic Simulation Environment for this and a lot of trickery (it wouldn't be easy in Inventor either).

I would recommend starting this design from scratch!

A mechanical design like this with single-body components should not include any body-move features in the timeline!
