NPT threads to .stl

I know that fusion has trouble with NPT threads, but I was surprised to learn that it can't export NPT threads. Is this a known thing?

I see that taper screws cannot be modeled at this time.

Although not a taper screw, someone has provided a definition file in straight so that NPT can be modeled.

You can model straight NPT screws by downloading the file from here and saving it to this location.

%localappdata%\Autodesk\webdeploy\Production\version ID\Fusion\Server\Fusion\Configuration\ThreadData

With this method, you have to repeat the same thing every time you update the file or the definition file will revert to the original, but if you must, this method is also possible.

I think I'm right that Fusion 360 has NO preset for NPT or what I call NPTT (Tapered threads.).

Why? I'm just trying to add NPT threads to a hole and then export the part as an .STL. The same exact thing happens on any hole that uses tapered threads.

Currently, even with Thread Cmmand, tapered threads cannot be modeled.

Find a workaround.

What about inserting a part from McMaster?

It is not a fundamental solution, but it is a handy workaround.

That's what I wound up doing. As you've noted, its less than ideal. But even if that is the only solution, fusion should tell you that NPT is not supported. It shouldn't show threads in your model and silently refuse to create a correct .STL.

Are you using the Thread Command? If so what thread were you specifying?

Weird! I don't have any NPT as a thread available in Create Thread.

Sorry, hole command. It should show up if you specific tapered threads.

Ah I see...The Hole command with thread option contains both threads you can check the "Model" box and those you cant I see.
