There are a couple of issues you should address beforehand, because it is too easy to "break" the design by dragging around components. For example IN your Thumb Screw assembly you can still drag the assembly around in the viewport.

The rigid group joint only involves 2 components:

It should be three as it also should include the top level component/origin!

For the Thumb Screw I'd model a boundary volume that you can then uses as the geometry for combining as I am sure you don't want to machine the threads and knurl into the foam 😉

Hi All

I am trying to create foam insert that can be cnc milled.

After placing all the items and using combine, I ended up wit bits where the cavities used to be in the original parts.

Is there any efficient way to clean this so that only "main cavities" are left?

Also, there are threads, and knurlin that i don`t want the have them embedded either

Thanks for any help.

f3z attached

Another thing I noticed is that you are not following the 1st part of Fusion 360's R.U.L.E #1 and 2.

You should first create a component and then create the needed sketches in that component.

Edit: You should also not use the position capture feature to locate components. Always use a joint!

A mechanical design like this should only very rarely contain a body move icon.
