Hey there! I'm pretty new to F360 and I'd like to heatform a milled acrylic sheet.

I designed an one axis rounded glass that I want to make. Therefore I need to flatten out this object so I can mill the outline on acrylic and then heat form it into the right shape.

Has anyone an idea on how to flatten out this object? I pretty much designed it the wrong way. I would have needed to start with the outline and then fold it over another object but here we are...

Hey there!

Thx for the quick help y'all. The mistake I've probably made was to sketch the outer conture and then apply the roundness with a cylindric object as cutting tool. That might be the reason why the object might not have the same thickness at each point (what would be preferred).

None of the objects in your design can be flattened with the tools available in Fusion 360. I am referring to the sheet metal tools. The reason for that is that those that are curved are non-developable.

I believe, however if the "Glas rechts" is modeled differently, perhaps making a small compromise on the exact geometry that flattening can can be done with the sheet metal tools.

There is another less precise and non parametric workflow that might work for this project. I believe @TheCADWhisperer has created a screencast of it, but I cannot locate it at the moment. This involves exporting the geometry as a .stl mesh, flattening it in Autodesk Meshmixer and so forth ...
